At the beginning of this course I wondered if i would ever make it through. My head was spinning with Computer lingo, and trying to muttle my way through all the ” things”. I found myself beginning to enjoy the time I spent on the lessons and passing the info onto to my children and nephews. I will definitely pass this course onto to fellow teachers. I have learned more than I thought I would and hopefully I will be able to help my children or a teacher in the future open her classroom to Web 2.0

In exploring Ning. I found it boring. Just being honest. I am not a big social networker. I do not allow my daughter to have a face book or My Space. Maybe a little nieve in the social computer technology – but have had a numerous amount of parents  discuss with me the implecations of their childrens social networking – so we have decided  not to allow our daughter to have one at this age. (13 -15). Anyway, that is my spill on personal networking. Back on Social networking for schools. I could see the positives and negatives on the networking, yet I don’t believe I would be a good canidate on using in with in the school – really don’t have a answer why.  I did not find any resources of vaule nor do I have any ideas for classroom learning. It’s probably because I don’t find a use for it. I would rather discuss something in person.

I checked my google reader and found some great news that Math and Science scores have increased in the United States. We are still so far behind Asain countries but we are gaining. Which is always a great sign. I know teachers are excitied to know their hard work and deciation to increasing United States test scores are working- keep up the great work.

I liked Pageflakes and thought it could be helpful for the classroom and parents. You can post great podcast and information on it for parents to use at work and children to log into to get help with homwork and subject matter in the classroom. I could have spent days on getting subject matter videos and podcast. My son  uses the teacher web site all the time, so I think this could really be a huge help in the classroom.

This is such an awesome tools. As many docs I send via email to clients, Insurance agencies, Contractors and so on, I could really use this in my day to day workings. I also love the idea of creatinga Presentation on this, the only thing I couldn’t do was upload pictures to the presentation – you can only upload 2 MB. That’s a boomer.  The spreadsheet is also a wonderful tool I could really see my self using with Accounts payable – especially when I make error and the account needs to be corrected. Awesome.

Dancing Robot was great entertainment. I really enjoyed researching and viewing Videos in You tube. I could see some very useful ways to post and use You Tube in the Classroom. The thing I do not like ,even after using the advanced tool to modify, is what is being seen, you still have the inapporiate content that is on side bars and advertisements. Even after modifying my searches to eliminate inapproiate content, it still was able to be typed in.

In teacher tube, the content was very good and I did enjoy using it to research some of my sons interest in history. I can’t wait to share with him some of the Children in WWII I discovered while on teacher tube.

Which podcasts did you preview? I reviewed the Educational Podcast Network What did you think? I Thought it was wonderful. Were you able to find pod casts of value? Yes, I could see me using these with my children at home to help with Math. Do you have any ideas about incorporating existing pod casts into your classroom or professional learning? Definitely, The ideas are endless. A child is having difficulties with a concept. Find a podcast that represents that situation, during center time have the child listen to that podcast. The more you give a student opportunities to learn the better chance they have of grasping that idea. , You could also use the podcast on the white boards and use it as a directional learning to tool to explain an idea, that maybe you can not verbally get across.

The Library Thing is a neat resource. I am not an advid reader, just because I can never put a book down until it is read. I do love to read, but do not do a lot of it due to time. Yet, this site would be a great site to read something and then do a book club with my friends. With Young children and the busy life styles we lead, it is hard to ” get together” and talk. I do like that about the site. I even blogged about a book I did read. I feel so “techy” now.

I did really enjoy visiting and tagging in the Delicious web site. This could be a very helpful tool in teaching. Trying to remember all the sites you have visited and why is quite a task. This site would be wonderful to pull every time you needed a quick reference or a study sheet or practice page for a student. Easy to get to,looks at your tags, and boom you have it. Great Idea. I will have to start using this with my business and all the sites I visit for Federal Regulations.

I took a t look at the Weebly Web page. I thought this was a easy web page to manipulate around. I am going to use it for our ball team if the manager agrees. I have already began to include some things into it, but of course need ideas and team list from them. The idea I really like about the page is I can add google maps, pictures, and link tournaments to the page will we playing in. How exciting. I have passed the information onto our manager for the team – but I am sure the duty will be passed back to me to manage. I hope the parents will enjoy the availability to see what is going on and be able to keep the team updated on a daily basis. Go Raiders.
